Patty Duke Awards Hamilton Workshop

From the Room Where It Happens

Before the Hamilton tour left the room where it happened, the Morrison Center Education Department helped choreograph a dance workshop for Patty Duke Awards students with Zach Bravo, a two-year Swing with the Hamilton Philip Company, on Friday, January 24th, at the SPEC.

The Morrison Center Education Department regularly connects students participating in the Patty Duke Awards with current Broadway tours and other top Broadway professionals through vocal and dance workshops, providing students with invaluable opportunities to learn more about the theater industry.

It’s also an opportunity to offer a space where the next generation of rising stars can be around others who share the same passion for theater as they do.

My favorite part of the workshop, other than just the opportunity to work with such a fabulous dancer, was seeing how talented all my peers are. It’s so uplifting and so nice to see!

Students come from all over Idaho, including communities with limited access to arts education and resources. Often, the Patty Duke Awards and these workshops are the singular spotlight on the importance of musical theater and how far away the industry can feel without them.
